Source: Christian Post by: Carey Lodge A devout Christian couple from Florida are championing an unusual evangelism technique – swinging.
Christy and Dean Parave met online eight years ago, and began swinging after being approached in a DIY store. They now regularly swap partners with other couples. While most would regard sexual promiscuity as conflicting with their religious beliefs, the Paraves, who both compete as bodybuilders, believe that they can use their newfound connections to share the Gospel. Panama City has more churches than it has bars—but one church has positioned itself more like a strip club than a sanctuary for the season. Yes, really.
The Panama City News Herald shows photos of The Life Center's banner inviting youth to naked paint parties and slumber-party Sundays that promise the "sexiest ladies on the beach." The everyday party is called Spring Break Amnesia. It's been running since Feb. 28—and a pastor who was recently arrested on charges of giving drugs to a minor and forcing himself on her masterminded it. Source: Daily Mail
By Simon Parry In Manila, The Philippines, For Mailonline Street children as young as five are being caged in brutal detention centres alongside adult criminals in a cynical drive to smarten up the Philippines capital ahead of a visit by Pope Francis this week. Hundreds of boys and girls have been rounded up from doorways and roadsides by police and officials and put behind bars in recent weeks to make the poverty-racked city more presentable when Pope Francis arrives tomorrow, a MailOnline investigation has found. In a blatant abuse of the country's own child protection laws, the terrified children are locked up in filthy detention centres where they sleep on concrete floors and where many of them are beaten or abused by older inmates and adult prisoners and, in some cases, starved and chained to pillars. But for many reasons, churches in America today are becoming targets for protests, predators, and maybe even terrorists. From small country churches to the megachurches that see thousands of worshippers every week, violence in the sanctuary happens far too often. Of the many churches in Memphis, Tennessee, the largest is Bellevue Baptist Church. Founded in 1903, it has since grown in membership to almost 30,000 people. Andy Willis, who heads up security at the church, has the monumental job of keeping this large congregation safe. "Today, churches that speak the truth, that teach and preach true biblical principles, they draw a lot of attention because there are a lot of components of society today that don't want to hear that," Willis told CBN News. This move was initiated by the Pope Francis in order to bring peace between Israelis and Palestinians. During his visit last week to Jordan Israel, and the Palestinian Authority, Pope Francis invited Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Peres’s spokesperson has announced in Times of Israel that Abbas, Peres, and Pope Francis will be joined by Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious leaders. According to the officials, these evening prayers would be a “pause in politics” and have no political aim behind it other than the desire to bring peace and respect to the Israeli-Palestinian relations, states the Associated Press. The Vatican will broadcast the event worldwide through the official website. |
